Master Gibson’s Martial Arts

Grandmaster Lorenzo Gibson has studied martial arts for over 35 years.  His foundation and focus is traditional Tae Kwon Do, a Korean art of self-defense.  He holds  the rank of 7th degree black belt, thus earning the title of Grandmaster.

Grandmaster Gibson’s first active participation in the arts began in 1973 under Jun Han Kim and Jun Jang Kim.  He received his first black belt in 1976.  Six years later, after being recruited by Grandmaster Seung Gyoo Don, Master Gibson continued his training and became one of south Richmond, Virginia’s most recognized  Tae Kwon Do instructors.  For fifteen years he taught at the 360 West Hull Street Dojang.  Grandmaster Gibson received his 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th degree black belts from Grandmaster Dong.

Grandmaster Gibson has also studied  Korean weaponry, Kumdo (Korean Kendo), Aikido, Judo, Ju Jitsu, Karate and Grappling.  He has instructed over 400 black belts and has earned recognition and lifelong devotion from his students.  Many of his students have competed in and won state and national competitions.

Grandmaster Gibson continues to instruct martial arts in the tradition of the ancient masters, through patience and humble dedication.  He is truly a model for us all  and represents the core of martial arts philosophy.  He now teaches at Living Water Community Center.
