Beekeeper Training

Beekeeper Training Program.

Living Water Beekeeper Training is an 8-month hands-on, interactive program designed to teach individuals with little to no beekeeping experience how to take care for and manage honeybee colonies.

What to expect:

Participants will walk through all the beginning steps of setting up and managing a beehive.

  • Living Water provides a nucleus colony for the trainee to host in their yard throughout the duration of the 8 months.

  • Inspection demonstrations take place monthly.

  • Three workshops for diving deeper into management techniques.

  • Participants are invited to extract honey from apiary hives.

Program Outcomes: At the conclusion of the program in October, the participant will have the tools, knowledge and skills to successfully manage and care for honeybee colonies.

Program is designed for the participant to take over and continue managing their beehive (small fee for taking over the wooden equipment). If the participant does not feel ready to take over the hive at the end of the program they can choose not to.

Program Cost: $450. Scholarships available.

When: March - October

Ideal locations: Any property that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight, away from foot traffic and congregating areas, and have no danger of flooding.

Inspections happen on Thursday afternoons or Friday mornings/afternoons. Participant must be able to be present for inspection demonstrations once a month at these times. Workshops are on Saturdays.
